Many extended health benefit plans provide coverage for services offered by a Registered Psychotherapist (RP). As coverage varies between plans, it is recommended that you contact your insurance provider before your first appointment to confirm your eligibility and available benefits.
Direct billing is available for many insurance providers. If direct billing is not available through your plan, payment is made following your session and an official receipt will be provided for reimbursement.

Life happens and sometimes plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments, will be charged the full session fee. This policy helps ensure appointment times remain available for clients who are waiting for care.
Beginning therapy is an investment in your well being, and my goal is to make the process as simple and transparent as possible. If you have any questions about fees, insurance coverage, direct billing, or the sliding scale, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm always happy to help.

The terms counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably, and both involve talking with a trained mental health professional in a safe and supportive environment. Generally, counselling focuses on specific concerns or life challenges, while psychotherapy may involve exploring deeper emotional patterns, past experiences, and long standing difficulties. In practice, the approach is tailored to your unique needs, and together we'll determine what feels most helpful for you.
-
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about what has brought you to therapy, explore your concerns, discuss your goals, and answer any questions you may have. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you and begin building a plan that supports your needs.
-
The frequency of therapy depends on your goals, circumstances, and personal preferences. Many clients find that meeting weekly at the beginning provides consistency and momentum, while others may benefit from biweekly or less frequent sessions as therapy progresses. Together, we'll decide on a schedule that feels right for you.
-
Yes. Your privacy is respected, and everything discussed in therapy is kept confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions. These include situations where there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or someone else, concerns about the safety of a child, or when disclosure is required by law. These limits to confidentiality will be reviewed with you before we begin therapy so you know what to expect.
-
Absolutely. Many people feel nervous about starting therapy, especially if it's their first time. It's natural to have questions or feel unsure about what to expect. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and non judgemental space where you can move at your own pace and feel comfortable asking questions throughout the process.
-
Yes. Virtual therapy is offered through a secure and confidential platform, allowing you to attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Many clients find online therapy to be just as effective as meeting in person, while offering greater flexibility and convenience.

A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. That's why I offer a complimentary 15 minute consultation, giving you an opportunity to ask questions, discuss your needs, and determine whether working together feels like the right fit. If I believe another therapist would better meet your needs, I'm happy to help guide you toward appropriate resources.
